The wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu, yesterday inaugurated 2022 Ondo Central Senatorial District Summer Tennis Club Committee members which is headed by Special Adviser to the State Governor on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana.
Ondo State Summer Tennis Clinic, initiated by the wife of the Governor in 2017, is an annual event aimed at grooming future champions and this year’s edition is the 5th of its kind.
At the ceremony held at the Government House Ground, Alagbaka, Akure, Mrs Akeredolu, while thanking the coordinator, Mr Seun Betiku, for the strong commitment over the years, also appreciated People United by Sport for their donations and efforts at developing sport in the state.
In her acceptance speech, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated committee, Mrs Falana described the Tennis clinic as an initiative to beat because its impact on the next generation cannot be overemphasized.
While commending the First Lady for her many impactful projects across the state she said: “Of the many thrills, the forthcoming event holds decentralized clinic for the year, as the three Senatorial districts of the state will have their young ones introduced to the world of sports at the gains of our state having the next generation of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova among others who will make million of dollars annually from living their sporting hobbies.”
Earlier in his remark, the programme coordinator, Mr Seun Betiku, commended Arabinrin Akeredolu for standing by the vision and supporting it through the years, charged members to put in their best to make this year’s programme a huge success.
