Following the conclusion of Sunshine Stars’ 2021/22 season programmes, a two-week recess, has been approved for the players and officials of the Club by the management.
The break was announced by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State,Mr Dele Ologun.
Ologun urged the players to spend their vacation responsibly by eating right and eschewing vices that could undermine their overall fitness before resumption.
_”You guys have to go on break for two weeks and that start almost immediately. While on break I wish you well, eat less, drink more water and don’t abuse yourself. You guys are coming back to achieve a top three target set by Mr Governor (Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu). So I want you to be fit for the new season.”
While speaking, Sunshine Stars’ coach Emmanuel Deutcsh expressed gratitude to the Club for prioritising the team’s welfare, before pointing out a few grey areas to work on for future success.
“Sunshine management did fantastically well in term of welfare and motivation. No owing of salary and bonuses. It is very good! This team could have achieved a lot but I already told you that you will play better towards end of the season because I joined in the mid-season. It will take time for players that I didn’t recruit to adjust to my philosophy, but you can see we understand ourselves better towards the end.”
“I want to advise that the size of the squad be reduced to make the job easier, and players should be signed only on merit and with these success is guaranteed. I will still come up with my end of the season report. Thank you!”
The team is expected to regroup on the 22nd of August to begin preparations for the 2022/23 season.
