Akoko Monarchs hail Governor Akeredolu, make demands

The Olisua of Isua Akoko in Akoko Southeast Government of Ondo State, Oba Adesunloye Oyolola III, has commended the Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, over his administration’s numerous achievements in the state.

The first class monarch made this known, while playing host to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief (Mrs) Bamidele Ademola-Olateju in his palace at Isua Akoko.

The Commissioner, who hails from Epinmi Akoko in the local government area, paid courtesy visit to all the monarchs in the local government area. Oba Oyotola said the Governor has done well especially in securing the lives and properties of the state residents.

Also, at the palace of Olusosan of Sosan, Oba Adeola Garuba, appreciated the Commissioner for the visitation saying it was first of its kind from a sitting commissioner in the state to the town.

The monarch who appreciated the governor for his various achievements and for giving him the staff of office about a year ago.

He however, used the opportunity to solicit employment opportunity for the graduates of the community and political appointments for the youth. He also pleaded for a fitting car, to ease the difficulty in attending important state functions especially at the state capital.

At Ipesi Akoko, High Chief Jeremiah Ajulo led other High Chiefs to welcome the commissioner on behalf of the town’s regent, Princess Adeola Amodeni.

He used the opportunity to call on the state government to help enthrone a monarch, sixteen years since the stool has been vacant.

Ipesi people enjoined the state government to take interest in the development of the Ebomi Tourists Centre which they said has been abandoned long time ago. In addition, they pleaded for increment in the salaries of recognised chieftaincy holders in the local government.

The Commissioner was warmly received by the Regents of Ifira Akoko, Princess Folashade Olugboja-Oshin and Princess Olajumoke Oyekan of Epinmi Akoko where she hails from. They thanked her for her support and identification with Royal Fathers in the local government. In turn, they beseeched God for a successful and impactful tenure.

In response, the commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju praised Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON for appointing her to serve. She encouraged the council of chiefs to follow the laid down rules and regulations for the appointment and installation of monarchs.

She asked the Ipesi Council of Chiefs to relate with the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for guidelines and useful information about how to resolve the çhieftaincy crisis.

She said Governor Akeredolu-led administration did not interfere with the process of kings selection but rather approved selected individuals presented by communities, as long as it is in conformity with the law.

On the employment and appointment opportunities, the commissioner revealed that the state government had continued to prioritise the employments appointmemts of qualified hands, but that the lean resources of the state had checkmated the administration from filling all the political positions available, noting that it would be inappropriate to appoint individuals to offices without the means to pay them.

The Commissioner noted that the visit is based on the need to introduce herself in her official capacity, and to identify with traditional stakeholders, and to develop a robust relationship that would foster development in the local government. She promised to act within her capacity for the development of Akoko Southeast.
