A former Special Assistant to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Mr. Richard Omosehin, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The Guardian learnt that the former aide of the governor was kidnapped in his residence at the weekend at Igbekebo, the headquarters of Ese Odo Local Council.
The gunmen, numbering about six, were said to have arrived the community with a speed-boat before storming the private house of the victim.
According to sources, after identifying the victim, the bandits dragged him into the boat and sped off.
“The incident happened at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. Immediately, people invited the police but by the time the policemen arrived, the kidnappers had taken the man away,” the source stated.
While confirming the abduction, the monarch of Igbekebo, Oba Simon Dabo, said that the victim was allowed to call his wife from the den of the kidnappers and they had demanded N100 million for his release.
MEANWHILE, the Ondo State Police Command said that it had begun search for the victim to rescue him from his abductors.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami, investigation into the matter had also commenced, adding that efforts were ongoing to set the victim free unhurt.
“We are already making efforts to rescue the victim and investigation has begun,” the PPRO stated.
