Ondo Reps member Makinde inaugurates, donates Ultra-modern Skill Acquisition Centre to Adeyemi University of Education

Hon Makinde Commissions Ultra-modern Ondo City Skill Acquisition Centre, Hands Over To Adeyemi University Of Education.

Hon Abiola Peter Makinde, Member House of Representatives, representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency has commissioned an ultra-modern Ondo City Skill Acquisition Centre, hands it over to the management of Adeyemi Federal University of Education.

The Skills Acquisition center is designed to provide an enabling learning environment for young people to acquire various skills and in turn create employment for Ondo City.

The self-sustaining skill acquisition center is expected to reduce youth unemployment and restiveness in the immediate and surrounding surrounding communities as well as generate income for the administrators.

The fully equipped development center consists of several training halls for fashion designing and tailoring, ICT and computer training, Vulcanising training, Hairdressing, Shoemaking, amongst other and a high performance generator set.

In an event held at the Skill acquisition ground, on the 9th of January, 2023, the beautiful edifice was commissioned by the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom,His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo Adesimbo CFR, Jilo III.

In his welcome address, Hon Makinde highlighted the importance of the project while encouraging more of such given the growing statistics of unemployment bedeviling our country. He noted that the skills centre would in no little way contribute immensely to the development of our youths and also mitigate youth restiveness and joblessness.

The Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Kiladejo CFR, Jilo III, who was represented by Chief Olusola Adeduro, the Sasere of Ondo Kingdom, pointed out that centres such as the skills acquisition centre had become imperative as it creates an alternative to seeking employment for unavailable jobs amongst our youths. He mentioned also how it is also going to engage community youths as an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

He also encouraged members of the community to take advantage of the project and learn skills that will help them take care of their families.

“Let us take advantage of this center. As youths, you can use the opportunity to learn important skills that would make our community more productive. You should use this opportunity to learn skills that will help you take care of your family. Let this skill acquisition center not go to waste and become inactive. We should all be part of the growth of Ondo City.”

Speaking on behalf of the Adeyemi University who will be in charge of the skill centre, the Acting Provost, Dr. Gbade Ikuejube, appreciated and complemented the efforts of the Honorable Member of the House of Representatives, Hon Makinde for facilitating what he termed as a “thoughtful” project.

“I appreciate the efforts of our MHR, Hon Abiola Makinde for making this a reality. We are also grateful that he reposes enormous trust in us to properly manage this skill centre and on behalf of the University, we thank him.”

Amongst those who attended the commissioning were, former provost of Adeyemi University; Dr Samuel Akintunde, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, Hon. Ebenezer Akinsulire, represented by his Vice, Jimi Akintunde, Secretaries of both Ondo East and West Local Government, APC Central Senatorial District Candidate; Adeniyi Adegbonmire, represented by Alhaji Akinbani, APC House of Assembly Candidate, Ondo West Constituency II, Hon Biola Oladapo, Adeyemi Student Union Government, NANS Ondo State Body, NAOSS, Senior management and staff of Adeyemi University,Academic and Non-academic Staff Union and many others.
