16-year-old pupil of Ijapo High School Akure, Gbenga Ezekiel has been declared the Guinness World Record holder in most Skips on one leg in one minute.
Gbenga Ezekiel successfully erased Rasel Islam of Bangladesh’s record of 262 skips in one minute and set a new Guinness World Record with 265 skips.
With this remarkable achievement, Gbenga Ezekiel has shot Ondo State to Guinness World Record limelight.
He is the first Ondo State born athlete to set a Guinness World Record since the creation of the state in 1976.
The youngster also doubles as the first Nigerian and African Rope Skipper to hold Guinness World Record in Rope Skipping.
In a chat with Sporting Hope in Akure, the head coach of Rope Skipping Association in Ondo State ,Chibuisi Ukandu urged Ezekiel and other skippers to continue keep the flag flying for greater height.
Ukandu added that the World record holder should keep aspiring for greatness, and should not allowed anything to stand as obstacle on his way to greatness.
He said: “They should not give up, and continue to strife hard to attain greater heights, this will also serve as a motivation to their fellow students to know that their are other sports through which they can explore to become great personality in the community.
They should remain focus and not allowed anything to distract them”, he said.
