Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa has disclosed that his management team are working assiduously to ensure Sunshine Queens return to Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

Ologunloluwa revealed that why much has not been heard about the team in recent times was because they were relegated last season, saying the team is not abandoned.

The commissioner stated this in a chat with newsmen in Akure.

He added that the management of the club will do everything legitimately possible to ensure that  the 2015 Women Federation Cup champions return  to the Women Elite League.

He said: “It was unfortunate that the team got relegated, but relegation is part of football, we will stand with the team to return to the (NWFL)”.

“Since they went on relegation last year, we maintained the players on ground and also recruited fresh legs that can complement the players we have on ground to return the team to the Women Elite league.”

“We motivate them, despite the fact they were on relegation, we did not reduce their salaries and it has always been paid regularly.”

“When they complained about their hostel, we also ensured that we get them a befitting hostel to make them comfortable and relax ahead of their championship playoff scheduled for Abuja in the next few weeks.”

The team will be engaging in competition that will keep them in shape ahead of their play off.

“We thank the sports loving Governor of the state ,which has been supporting the team since he came on board.”
