Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa has emphasised on the need to always encourage soccer talents in the state.
Ologunloluwa stated this during an interaction with newsmen at the state sports complex venue of a Mock Nations cup tourney tagged Dele Ologun 7 aside soccer cup competition.
He said the aim of the competition is to encourage home grown football talents who are not attached to any club side.
He added that the tourney is a mix of professional players and non professionals in a bid to promote the game of football locally in the state capital .
The commissioner advised participating teams to abide by the rules guiding the tourney and have fun
” I’m glad with talents being exhibiting here, no competition is small, the professionals are playing like real pros while the non professionals are also making a mark , I’m impressed “
Ologunloluwa reiterated government’s determination at encouraging Ondo state youths in all spheres urging them to shun social vices and participate actively in sports.
Coordinator of the tourney Abe Sunday in his address , thanked the sports commissioner for his encouragement at all times urging other well to do indigenes of Akure to emulate him and get youths involved in meaningful things.
Six teams are currently participating in the tourney with a round robin format adopted by the organisers .
The teams are , Mali, Egypt , cape Verde , Senegal , south Africa and Algeria.
Top NPFL stars participating in the tourney include; Michael Olalusi, Seun Olulayo ,Dayo Ojo
Others include Nzube Anazemba, Alaba Oye, Ope Oloyi among others.
