Prominent indigenes of Ondo State converged at Akure Diocese of Church of Nigeria -Anglican Communion, Saint David Cathedral to celebrate the 80th birthday of Mrs. Juliana Ajibare Adu on Saturday 24th June, 2023.
Led by the Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Princess Oladunni Odu, some government’s top officials including the Special Advisers to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Health and Transport, Prof Dayo Faduyile and Barr Tobi Ogunleye respectively; the Executive Chairman of Ifedore local government, Mr Alex Oladimeji, traditional rulers as well as Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire from Ondo Central, eulogized the octogenarian mother of Comrade Tayo Adu, a journalist and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Prince Leke Adegbite led top media professionals to the occasion to celebrate mother of one of them.
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Simeon Borokini in his sermon advised children not to wait until the death of their parents before they celebrate them, saying they should make sure they take care of their parents when they are still alive.
The Cleric said the Bible admonished us to count our days so that we may appreciate what God has done for us. He said attaining 80 years of age in a country where life expectancy is 45 years is not a mean feat.
He advised the children of the celebrant to emulate the good qualities of their mother and serve God diligently. He said Mrs. Adu is a devoted Christian who is a good example to others in the congregation.
With thanksgiving, the children moved to the event center of the church where they entertained their guests to a lavish reception.
