Frontline aspirant for Governorship position in Ondo State in the forthcoming 2024 election, Prof. Ibrahim Ajagunna, has welcomed Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, CON., back to the state from his month-long medical leave. Ajagunna also in his prayers appreciate God for the Governor’s recovery and for surviving the turbulent period.
“I am pleased to welcome our Executive Governor, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu back to Ondo State after his medical leave in Germany. I am particularly happy that Mr. Governor has recovered his health and I congratulate him for surviving the turbulent period. It is my prayer that God would make this recovery permanent”.
The Ikare-Akoko born Professor of Sustainable Development who is also the Deputy President of the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), Jamaica, said the absence of Governor Akeredolu in the state while he was attending to his health in Germany was greatly felt by the people of the state.
He, however, believes that the Governor’s return has rekindled the hope of the residents.
“There is no doubt that the return of Governor Akeredolu and his immediate resumption to office has rekindled the hope of the people of Ondo State who all showed support and prayed for the Governor while he was in faraway Germany.
“It is the hope of the people of Ondo State that the return of Governor Akeredolu will afford him the opportunity to successfully complete his tenure by also delivering his developmental agenda for the State”, Ajagunna added.
Ajagunna further commended the Governor’s prompt reiteration on actualizing Deep Sea Port in Ondo State.
Governor Akeredolu had said “no going back on port Ondo” in a meeting with stakeholders immediately after his return. While appreciating this pronounced commitment, Ajagunna recalled his previous engagements with the Governor on Deep Sea Port development in Ondo State.
“I reflect on my conversation with you on the 6th of January 2019, of the deplorable condition of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, you promised you will give priority to the University and you did.
“You also promised you would give priority to the development of Maritime Education at the same university and you did. In line with this, Hon. Femi Agagu, the then University Vice Chancellor and the Chairman of the University visited the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) under your instruction. The partnership between the two universities has been very strong.
“That your promise is now a reality with OSOPADEC under our able Chairman, Mr. Erejuwa, dedicating a facility for Maritime education and the Blue Economy. Your promise on the Deep Sea Port development is gradually being actualized.
“It is not strange to me why they call you Mr Talk and Do. Irrespective of whatever criticism, you name has been written in Gold in the Annals of the sunshine state”. Welcome back our able Governor.
