By Femi Atolagbe
Sunshine Stars head Coach, Edith Agoye has described his side league opening match against Kano Pillars as a highly technical encounter.
He said Sunshine Stars have showed that they can measure up with any team in the league with today’s victory.
He stated this after Sunshine Stars defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 in the opening match of the 2022/24 season in Akure, the state capital.
Agoye said: “We are very happy that we scored a very good goal against Changi Boys, we created a lot of scoring chances, and our opponents were unable to have any clear chance against us”.
Agoye said his team will go back to the training ground and improve more on converting chances, saying it was massive for his side to win the first match of the season and keep the three maximum points in their kitty.
Emmanuel Oge gave the Akure Landlords, the lead in the 8th minute of the encounter, making him the first to score in the new season.
Kano Pillars Abdu Maikaba, said his team will be looking up to their next match, saying the game was a fantastic one from both sides.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars had earlier unveiled their newly recruited players for the season before the encounter against Kano Pillars.
They will travel to Lafia for their next match against Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
