Ologbese hails Ondo Assembly for respecting rule of law

The All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain in Ondo State, Otunba Dele Ologbese has described the Ondo State Chief Judge, Olusegun Odusola as a man of courage, substance, integrity and good conscience who is ready to uphold the rule of law.

He added that the Chief Judge’s refusal to constitute a 7- Man panel to probe the Deputy Governor owing to subsisting Federal High Court injunction was a welcome development and confirmation that court is really the last hope for a common man in Nigeria.

Recalled that Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday at it’s sitting in Akure said they have suspended the impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa following the refusal of the Chief Judge of the State, Olusegun Odusola, to set up a panel for the exercise.

Ologbese in statement made available to newsmen commended the State House of Assembly for its respect for the rule of law and the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended.

Coordinator, Advocacy For Good Governance said the decision of the lawmakers to suspend the impeachment move again the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa is the best way to toe under democratic governance.

The Public Communicator added that the essence of judiciary in a democratic environment is to check executive and legislature’s excesses towards averting tyranny as aptly exemplified in Abuja Federal High Court’s injunction against Ondo House of Assembly’s impeachment moves until injunction is finally vacated.

“The act of the Chief Judge is a sign of hope that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.”

“It’s against the fundamental principle of checks and balances for the House of Assembly to make reference to the section 188 of the constitution in carrying out its oversight functions to ridicule the rulling of any court of competent jurisdiction.”

“We pray for continue peace and tranquility in the polity as the three arms of governments in Ondo State have submitted to the rule of law,” he said .
