Prominent personalities and revellers on Saturday 18th November, 2023, thronged Ilara Mokin in Ifedore local government area of Ondo State for the 2023 annual festival of the community.
The town can boast of great sons and daughters such as Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, a businessman and founder of Elizade University located in Ilara, Alhaji Wahab Adegbenro, (1955 – 2020) Nigerian Physician and Ondo State Commissioner of Health; Dele Ojo, (1938 – 2018) Nigerian musician and performer, who was a prominent musician in the Juju genre of music and our dear Amazon, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, (Immediate Past First Lady of Ekiti State).
This 44th Mokin Day is the first of its kind which was held in the month of November where all Ilara Mokin sons and daughters from all over the world gathered to celebrate and also embark on developmental project for the community.

Speaking at the epoch-making event, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs Seun Bosede Osamaye, hailed sons and daughters of community for exhibiting their age-long cultural heritage and also engaging in self-development of their area.

Thrilled by the development, she therefore called on other communities to emulate Ilara Mokin by engaging in self development, emphasising that government alone cannot develop every nook and cranny of the country.
Osamaye who doubles as the Chairperson of event, noted that despite government’s paltry resources, there is the dire need for every stakeholders to hugely contribute to the growth of the society.
While applauding the royal wisdom of the Alara of Ilara Mokin, Oba Abiodun Adefehinti, Agbekorun II, Osamaye extolled the visionary leadership of the Monarch, describing him as a kind-hearted monarch who has the love of his subjects at heart.
In her words, the APC Chieftain said “If we all play our parts in community development without waiting for government, then our society will be better and the people will be happy.
“We have made a pact to contribute our quota to the development of our immediate community and that, we will always do.
“This year 2023 Mokin Day is the 44th. As a member of APC and a grassroots politician, I consider it a rare privilege to be chosen as the Chairperson. My family and I rejoiced with His Royal Majesty, Oba Abiodun Adefehinti fca, fcca, JP, Agbekorun II, Alara of Ilara-mokin, Egbe Omo ilara- mokin, the Entire Illustrious Sons and Daughters of Ilara Mokin on this year 44th Anniversary Mokin Day Celebration and Launching Of Five Hundred Million Fund Raising For Development Project In the Community,” said Bosede Osamaye (Eyeomo).
“I thank Orisaranmilaye Family who made it evident when they came out in their numbers to pay homage to the king, Oba Abiodun Adefehinti, Agbekorun II, Alara of Ilara-mokin and i appreciate him on my behalf.
“I appreciated God Almighty for our lives and I thank the Egbe Omo ilara Mokin for their immense contributions in infrastructure and other developmental projects as it is unparalleled in the entire State.”
“I thank the King, his queen, the Chiefs and the entire community for counting me worthy of the honour to be the Chairperson of this year occasion.”
She also added that “Giving, impacting lives and rendering help to the less privileged is not a function of the position one occupies wether elective or appointive, but a personal and deliberate efforts to make lives better for people all around you.”
