Amotekun foils plot by seven-man gang to rob banks in Ondo —

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, has foiled the plot by a seven-man gang of suspected criminals to rob three banks in the state during the week.

The commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who disclosed this yesterday while parading no fewer than 37 suspects involved in various crimes across the state, stressed that six members of the gang came into the state from Delta State to perpetrate the crime.
Adeleye stressed that the intelligence gathered by the corps aided Amotekun operatives to swing to action, which led to the arrest of one of the gang members based in the state while others fled the state.
With the leader of the gang, Fatai Bami, 35, confessing to the crime, the Amotekun boss stated that three banks were already mapped out to be attacked by the suspects in Ore, Odigbo Local Council Area of the state, stressing that the gang had also planned to kidnap the owner of a popular supermarket in the commercial city.

The commander stated that one of the gang members had tried luring a staff of the supermarket into the operation, but turned it down, after which he informed his boss about the plot.
Adeleye, who added that some suspects were also nabbed across the state, said: “Amongst them are those who specialise in vandalism of critical government assets. They went with a trailer to load pipes meant for a World Bank-financed water project and successfully offloaded them, and our operatives followed them and apprehended them where they offloaded at a different location.
“This is in furtherance of the determination that our citizens live peacefully in Ondo State. We appeal to the public to continue to support us with timely and actionable information, and we pledge to secure lives and properties in conjunction with other security agencies in Ondo State.’’
