APC, PDP rakes in N905 million from sales of forms —

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have raked in no fewer than N905 million from the sale of expressions of interest and nomination forms for primary elections in Ondo State.

No fewer than 13 aspirants under the platform of the APC obtained the N50 million forms, while a female aspirant purchased only the expression of interest form for N10 million in line with the policy of the party.

The aspirants who purchased the APC forms include Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Wale Akinterinwa, Gbenga Oedema, Olamide Ohunyeye, Olusola Oke, Isaacs Kekemeke, Dayo Faduyile, Jimoh Ibrahim, Funmilayo Adekojo (female), Diran Iyantan, Morayo Lebi, Soji Ehinlanwo, Mayowa Akinfolarin, and Jimimi Odimayo.
Following the development, APC generated nothing less than N660 million from the sales of forms, while PDP realised N245 million after it sold its expression of interest and nomination forms for N35 million.

With the deadline for the purchase of the APC elapsing on Wednesday, of the PDP has been closed since March 21.
The PDP aspirants who obtained the forms are Agboola Ajayi, Bamidele Akingboye, Sola Ebiseeni, Adeolu Akinwunmi, Bosun Arebuwa, John Ola Mafo, and Kolade Akinjo.

However, two of the PDP aspirants were said to have been disqualified by the screening committee of the party.
According to a top source within the party, the affected aspirants appealed their disqualification and will be appearing before the appeal panel on Tuesday.

The primaries of the APC have been slated for April 20, while those of the PDP will be held on April 25, with the former adopting indirect and the PDP settling for indirect.
Meanwhile, the aspirants who had obtained forms had since returned to the state to interface with the State Working Committee of the party in the state as well as party leaders and supporters on their quest to become the standard-bearers of their parties.
The coming weeks are expected to witness intense campaign activities as aspirants from both parties engage with voters and stakeholders across the state to articulate their vision and agenda for the state, setting the stage for a showdown that will shape the future direction of governance in the state.
