2024 guber race: We won’t support Aspiration that will shortchange Ondo South —Enikuomehin

A prominent Ondo born Lawyer, Benson Enikuomehin, has declared that the people of Ondo South will not lend their support to aspirations of any Aspirant that will shortchange the area.

Enikuomehin emphasized that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s pursuit of reelection would shortchange the Southern Senatorial district, giving that he only has one term left to serve.

He spoke on Channels TV “Politic Today” on Wednesday.

The legal practitioner pointed out that since Aiyedatiwa has already succeeded his late predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and sworn in as Governor, he can only hold the position for one additional term.

Enikuomehin said the desire of Ondo South’s people is to have a Governor who would have the opportunity and mandate to govern for eight years.

He argued that the Central Senatorial district enjoyed an eight-year tenure during the Mimiko regime, while the Northern Senatorial district had nearly seven years under the late Rotimi Akeredolu.

The lawyer believed that the Southern part of the state would be at a disadvantage if Governor Aiyedatiwa were re-elected.

The legal practitioner also criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) Aborigines who declared their support for the Governor.

Enikuomehin stressed that since the APC was formed through the merger of various political parties, no one had the right to refer to themselves as Aborigines.

He further stated that those who participated in the formation of the Aborigines were well-known supporters of the Governor and lacked the moral standing to disguise themselves as neutral.

Enikuomehin expressed his bewilderment at how the group concluded that Aiyedatiwa had taken the lead in terms of educational qualifications, especially when his academic results had been a subject of controversy.
