Ondo guber primary: Why I’ve the edge to win PDP ticket —Agboola

Former deputy governor in Ondo state and a leading aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2024 gubernatorial election, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, has expressed confidence in picking the party’s ticket as it’s primary election holds tomorrow, Thursday.

Fielding questions on an Akure, Ondo state based radio station, on Wednesday, Ajayi mentioned the qualities which he said has made him the darling of the delegates, that will determine the party’s candidate in the Thursday’s election.

Agbo, as he is fondly called, mentioned that, apart from his experience as an active politician which towers far and above that of every other aspirant in the party, character and accessibility are other qualities he is known to pocess by party members and by extension, the party delegates.

Insisting that he stands the best chance to deliver for the PDP in a general election, among his co- aspirants, Agbo said his political deftness will result to his victory at the primary election.

“It’s a practical game. The people will elect their leader and some of the things I have going well for me are character and accessibility.

“The people have overtime come to identify Agbo with character and accessibility and that is going to be part of the reasons the delegates will vote for me.

“Anybody without character should not hold a political office. God has endowed some of us with character”, he said.

Stating that people are tired of the present system and believing in the PDP for a change, Agbo said this is the reason expectations are high on the delegates who are expected to make the right choice by deciding wisely on a candidate who the people are sure has what it takes to win the general election and deliver as governor.

This he said, is known to the delegates as well, hence they will be intentional about ensuring that the aspirant who is most guaranteed to deliver for the party will become the candidate.

“Even though all the aspirants are qualified to be governor, but I have the edge and I stand the best chance to deliver for the PDP.

” People want to vote for change and a better government. They are not fools. It’s no longer about buying votes, people are ready for the PDP.They are waiting for us and we can’t afford to fail them. We have done the political testing and we know the people’s expectations.

” Power belong to the people, they are not happy with the APC government and they will send the message with their votes” he mentioned.

Given the opportunity to lead the state, Agbo said he will make the state economically viable as people will no longer wait untill they come to the state capital before they do good business and make money.

” I will make the state economically vibrant. We have the largest coastal line.y What Lagos has is insignificant compared to what we have in Ondo regarding coastal endowment. We will leverage on this.

“In four years, people will know a visionary came here, if they give me Ondo to govern” he said in part.
