32,000 graduates jostle for 1,000 teaching jobs in Ondo —

No fewer than 32,000 applications have been submitted by applicants for the available 1000 secondary school teaching jobs at the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

Following the high number of applicants who showed interest in the teaching jobs, the Commission disclosed that an online examination would be conducted for all applicants seeking employment as teachers.
Spokesperson of the State Teaching Service Commission, Goodluck Akinyomi, in a statement said the ten-minute online recruitment examination would commence by 9: a.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Akinyomi said the weeding examination would involve all applicants, and in the spirit of inclusiveness, all physically challenged applicants are also to take the online recruitment examination on the same date and time, except the applicants who are visually impaired, who would take theirs at a later date.

The Administrative Secretary of the commission, Mrs. Morayo Bayo-Philip, said the appointment of teachers into the public secondary schools of the state would be based on merit, as no one would be employed through the ‘back door’.
Bayo-Philip said the commission would not compromise the academic standard of state secondary education, and the education of our children is paramount.
She noted that the state Teaching Service Commission has not relented in its efforts at ensuring that highly qualified applicants with proven integrity are engaged in the teaching service.

“The state expected the applicants to be engaged to score at least seventy percent in the examination.”
The Administrative Secretary requested the applicants log on to the portal using their individual user name and password with which they had registered for the online recruitment examination, which would take ten minutes only.
