PoliceThe Ondo State Police Command has disclosed that an investigation has begun into the circumstances surrounding the death of a middle-aged man, Seidu Jamiu, in Ondo State.[ad]The death of Jamiu, which occurred over the weekend, sparked controversy among residents of Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Council Area, where Jamiu died.
Some residents claimed that he was allegedly killed by his wife, Omolara Oluwakemi, while others alleged that he was killed by an unknown person.
The police have assured the public that the cause of Jamiu’s death will be revealed.[ad]
According to sources in the community, Oluwakemi, who was purportedly arrested over the death of her husband, allegedly hit him with a pestle for engaging in extramarital affairs.
One source, Toba, alleged that the suspect carried out the act while Jamiu was asleep after discovering that he had a side chick.
He added that Jamiu was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.[ad]
“Oluwakemi has always been aggressive towards Jamiu. No one knew it would result in this.
“They both had three children. The deceased even bought her a car and built her a house too.
“It was even her hot temperament that made her former lover, whom we all know, leave her.[ad]
“She was always attacking him with any object she laid her hands on, suspecting him of being with other ladies,” Toba said.
However, while confirming the incident, the police spokesperson in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami, stated that the deceased’s wife was the one who reported at the police station that some people killed her husband at midnight on Saturday.
Odunlami, who could not confirm the allegation that the wife murdered the deceased, insisted that the wife was the complainant of the incident.[ad]
The PPRO also noted that no arrests had been made on the matter as of press time.
“I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman who reported the matter at the police station. We have not made any arrests now, but an investigation has begun into the incident,” she said.[ad]
