OGSA Alumni Association of on the Rise Again, As Its Constitutes Electoral Panel

The Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure Alumni Association OGSA, has begun a transition process, which in turn will usher in new members of the Global Executive Council of the noble Association with the constitution of Electoral Panel towards the conduct of credible elections that will usher in new sets of Executive Officers.

The inauguration, which was conducted by the Global President of the Alumni Association, Dr. Niyi Ijogun is to be chaired by Chief Sola Isaiah Folorunso, a member of the 67/71 set.

Dr. Niyi Ijogun in his welcome address charged the members of the Electoral Panel on the need to conduct credible, free and fair elections, which he believes would be a benchmark towards the successful transition of Global Executive Council.

He said the positions to be contested were advertised and have since closed for entries on August 25 and September 11 respectively. The positions which include, Global President, Deputy President, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Secretary. Others are Social and Welfare Officer, Auditor, Assistant Auditor, Ex-offico and Vice Presidents for Africa, Europe, USA, Canada and Middle East.

While expressing his appreciation, and on behalf of the Alumni Association, Ijogun said he has confidence in the capacity of the members that made up the committee, and that the amended constitution of the association, which gives powers to the Electoral Panel to conduct the election must be respected.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Chief Sola Isaiah Folorunso appreciated the Global Executive Council and members of the Alumni Association for bestowing on them the responsibility of conducting the elections.

He said OGSA is making history. According to him, there has never been a time that the electoral panel was constituted to conduct an election for Executive positions, it was only during the Annual General Meeting that the Executive Council members were nominated.

Folorunso also reiterated the impact of the 70th anniversary of the school in 2023 in the lives of the students, teachers and parents. He said the development that heralded the school in the last three years has been beyond human comprehension, and he commended the Principal of the school and the entire Alumni Association under the leadership of Dr. Niyi Ijogun, the Global President.

He also assured the alumni association and the school community of transparent and credible elections without bias or favour. Other members of the Electoral Panel include, Elder Victor Agbeyo, Engr. Stephen Olumilola, Dr. Kemi Tanimowo and Hon. Justice Femi Owoyemi as the Secretary.
