Medicine Dealers, NAPPMED Akure South elect new Executives

Members of the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) Akure South chapter in Ondo state, today elected new members that would pilot the affairs of the group for another four years.

The election, held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) hall in Akure, attracted no fewer than 500 members of the Association from Akure South amid tight security.

Stephenson Temidayo Adegalu, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, announced the results of the election exercise to anxious members of the association at the end of the voting.

Mr Adegalu, who also doubles as the Ondo State Vice-Chairman of the Association, declared Alao Taiwo Hassan as the Chairman of the group, NAPPMED, in the Akure South chapter.

He added that Comrade Alao was returned to the seat unopposed for a second term.

Other elected officials of the association include; Justus Okafor, Vice Chairman; Adekola Adesina, General Secretary; Olayinka Bello, Assist General Secretary; Akinsebie Taiwo, Financial Secretary.

Others included; Ifeanyi Chukwukezei, Public Relations Officers (PRO); Abiodun Oluwamojo, Socio Welfare; Ogunkode bola Helen, Treasure.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Alao appreciates the members of the association for their support during the campaign period and for giving him the chance to return to the seat unopposed.

He said that his second term in office would see to the completion of the association’s building project which is now at its “linted” stage.

“Aside from the building project, I can assure our members that the executive members would continue to do their best in protecting the image of this association,” Mr Alao added.

On his part, the General Secretary of the Association, Comrade Adesina said that the welfare of the members would be taken as a priority in their four years term in office.

“We are going to make our people happy and we would defend them against any embarrassment or agency. So, the interest of our members would surely be paramount to us,” he added.

Mr Adesina, however, pleaded with the state government to help look into the heavy taxation levied on members of the association.
