Team Ondo finishes 3rd in 2025 BATSWAG competition

Ondo State emerged as the overall third-place winner in the just-concluded Bola Ahmed Tinubu South West Games (BATSWAG) held in Lagos.Lagos and Ogun States secured first and second positions, respectively, while Ondo finished third.Oyo, Ekiti, and Osun States ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth in the South West Games.The competition was organised as part of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s 73rd birthday.The six South West states competed in football, boxing, basketball, athletics, archery, and volleyball, with Lagos emerging as the overall winner.The General Manager of Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Sunday Fagite, commended the state’s athletes and their coaches for their impressive performance at the event.According to him, “Our athletes performed well both on and off the pitch.“We are heading to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to participate in the Niger Delta Sports Festival, which will take place from April 1 to 9, 2025.“The Niger Delta Sports Festival will serve as a template for the National Sports Festival, scheduled to be held in Ogun State in May.“I have no doubt that we will perform excellently at the National Sports Festival,” he said.
