It was a moment of joy amidst glitz, even as tributes, and thanksgiving filled the air on Wednesday 20th August, 2025, when Mr. Akinfolarin Jubril bowed out of the Ondo State Civil Service after decades of meritorious service.
The surprise send-forth, held at the FFA Events Center in Akure, was organised by family, friends, and colleagues in honour of the celebrant, who was visibly overwhelmed when the gathering was unveiled to him.
The colourful yet intimate ceremony attracted dignitaries, including the Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration, Hon. Wale Akinlosotu; former Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi, and his wife, Chief Mrs. Kumuyi; members of the Circle of Friends Club; as well as senior officials and staff of the Ondo State Development and Property Corporation, local government councils, and the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA).
Clerics such as Pastor Kayode Falade, Pastor Paul Oluwaleye, Pastor (Mrs) Israel Olukolade, Mrs. Omotayo Peters, and Prince Oluseye Olujimi were also present to felicitate with the celebrant.
The highlight of the evening came when Mr. Jubril, overwhelmed by the show of love, broke down in tears before being pacified by his wife, children, and close friends.
In his tribute, Otunba Femi Babatunde, a longtime friend, described the celebrant as a dependable companion.

“We married almost at the same time, lived in the same neighbourhood, and shared life’s struggles together. Jubril is like a drum – what you see depends on the side facing you. Above all, he is a good man who has given his best in service. I pray he enjoys sound health and long life to reap the fruits of his labour,” he said.
From the workplace, colleagues praised his loyalty and uprightness, noting his sincerity and family-oriented lifestyle. One colleague remarked:
“When Mr. Jubril believes in you, he gives 100% loyalty. He is frank, sincere, and stood by me in times of struggle. Heaven will celebrate him.”
The Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, also lauded his integrity, urging younger officers to emulate him.
“You always stood for the truth. This retirement is a new season to enjoy your grandchildren, eat well, exercise, and serve as a community elder statesman,” Philips said.
The testimonies from his children were particularly moving. His daughter, Olayele, recalled strangers recounting her father’s kindness, including a day he rescued an accident victim in the rain. Another daughter, Oluwafemi Mosunmola, added tearfully:
“Daddy sacrificed his last dime for our education. He loves us deeply. Thank you for being a great father and role model.”
From the church community, a mother in the faith described him as a passionate and generous Christian.
“During Bible study, he often asks questions that make everyone reflect deeply. He has a heart for God’s work and gives generously, not just to his family but also to the church,” she said.
The evening closed with prayers, praise songs, and a lively celebration, leaving guests with lasting memories of a man many described as frank, loyal, family-oriented, and God-fearing.
