Hon. Festus Akingbaso: A Year Of Impactful Representation for Idanre/Ifedore people



Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Ondo State – Today marks a significant milestone in the legislative journey of Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. It has been a year since his inauguration on June 13, 2023, and he has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the constituency’s development.


  • Organized summer classes for secondary school students in Idanre and Ifedore Local Government Areas, covering various subjects and providing educational aids and materials to over 5,000 pupils.
  • Procured and distributed 1,000 JAMB UTME forms to qualified tertiary admission applicants, ensuring equal access to higher education.
  • Supported indigenous Law Students from the constituency at Law Schools, fostering legal talent and community development.
  • Employed private primary school teachers to support Universal Basic Education in both Local Governments, enhancing the quality of education.
  • Awarded scholarships to 2 secondary students and empowered 10 trainees with apprenticeship skills, promoting academic excellence and vocational training.


  • Appointed over 130 Aides to interface with the Constituency and Constituents, ensuring effective communication and representation.
  • Intervened with palliative measures on the failed portion of Ondo/Owena/Akure federal highway, alleviating the suffering of road users.
  • Constructed the Lajimbiti bridge at Owena and the Dagbolu bridge at B Residential area, Alade Community (ongoing), improving transportation and connectivity.
  • Facilitated job opportunities in various sectors, including FAAN (3), NCSDC (2), NPF (3), Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (2), and the Health Sector (2), boosting employment and economic growth.


  • Provided financial support for the newly created LCDAs in the Federal Constituency, ensuring a seamless take-off.
  • Electrified communities with Solar-powered streets lights in Ipogun Community and Man Must Wack Junction, Jigbokin, enhancing security and quality of life.
  • Graded 80 km of rural access/township roads and 5 wards in Idanre Local Government Area, improving road infrastructure and accessibility.
  • Sponsored Special Ramadan Lectures with palliative materials in Ifedore and Idanre Local Government Areas, promoting community engagement and social welfare.
  • Supported festivals in the Federal Constituency, showcasing cultural heritage and promoting Tourism potentials.


  • Central Bank of Nigeria Act Bill 2023 (1st reading), aimed at strengthening the financial sector and promoting economic stability.
  • Dishonoured Cheques Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill (1st reading), seeking to enhance the payment system and reduce fraud.
  • Creation of ICT University, Idanre Bill 2023 (1st reading), focused on establishing a specialized institution for ICT education and innovation.
