The Center for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, a non governmental organization and an international anti-corruption, non state actor with its operational Headquarters in Lokoja, Kogi State, recently on June 6, 2022 honoured The Chairman, Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, Ondo State chapter, Comrade Adesuyi Oluwasegun Ajiboye, at the Medical and Health Workers’ house in Akure the state capital for his good leadership within his hundred days in office, alongside with his executives.
The Executive Director of the organization, Ethicist Prince Salih Musa Yakubu stated that the organization is majored in conducting annual independent secret investigations and budget tracking using the instrumentality of conducting opinion polls, interviews with informants, distribution of multiple questionnaires and project site visitation without the knowledge of the targeted subject of assessment.
He noted that the reason for choosing to honour Adesuyi is because he has within the last years been in the struggle for unionism not just now that he is the chairman, up to a point that he is now climbing the position of leadership and within the shortest time he came in, many things had been heard about him, he is reformed in the area of member’s welfare, discipline, going extra mile in serving his people, adding that his character is uncommon and has kick started on a sound note.
Yakubu further stressed that Adesuyi did not only win the organization’s ethically responsible leadership award, 100 members of his staff are to be trained for 2 days on expected ethics and leadership conduct would be certificated as ethically trained public servants as a way of adding to value to his leadership.
He advised him to be humble as most of the members he is leading are professionals and skillful people. He also stated that he should be ethically responsible, must ensure that he must accord the people he is leading with due respect and engage in participatory management, meaning that everybody should participate in his government.
Comrade Ajiboye, in his response, expressed his happiness, describing it as a day like his birthday because he wasn’t expecting any award from anyone and didn’t process any.
The Chairman said “I have just spent 100 days in office and my activities has been noticed, I feel fulfilled and I’m grateful to God and this is a call for me to do more”.
While appreciating the organization for coming from far away to honor him, the Labour Leader advised his members and the aspiring chairmen to be up and doing, always perform well, irrespective of their post because they do not know the people that are looking at them, they should and try to their best in every way and wherever they find themselves.
