No fewer than 26 talents were discovered at the Ondo State Summer Tennis Clinic, in the southern senatorial district out of 320 U-13 participated children .
The participants were selected from the six LGA’s in the southern district of the state: Okitipupa, Irele, Odigbo, Ilaje, Ese-Odo and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo LGA’s.
The Hope correspondent gathered that the new potential would be drafted to the Arabinrin Junior Tennis Club for further training in order to carve their niche in the sport.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the event, Chief (Mrs) Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, said concerted efforts should be geared towards the discovering of the young talents, nurture them and expose them to routine training for them to be great world champions in the future.
Anyawu-Akeredolu, who was represented by the wife of the Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Mrs Mercy Akinrinwa noted that several tennis potential abound at the grassroots who can become future world champions and laurels for the state and the country.
Mrs Anyawu-Akeredolu flagged off the 5th edition of the tennis clinic on August 15, at Stella Maris College, Okitipupa.
